It Happened Only Yesterday ©

You wake up in the morning
And the sun is in the sky,
It makes your life worth living,
Puts a twinkle in your eye.
With not a cloud to mar the view
The world is fresh and clean;
It happened only yesterday,
If you know what I mean.
For love's the only medicine
My system really needs,
It makes you want to somersault
And pull out stubborn weeds.
I never get depressed and blue,
Your love keeps me serene;
It happened only yesterday,
If you know what I mean.
I brought my true love breakfast
And she gave me such a smile,
I thought: "Hello, my luck's in",
And it was, for quite a while.
I tried to do the mowing
But once more I'm led astray;
So now the grass is inches deep,
It happened yesterday.
For love's the only medicine
My system really needs,
It makes me want to somersault
And pull out stubborn weeds.
I never get depressed and blue,
Your love keeps me serene;
It happened only yesterday,
If you know what I mean.
Of all the great emotions
Which the human race can boast,
It's only love which conquers,
It's the one I love the most.
Now practice does make perfect
And, (I'm really glad to say!),
I practice love most evenings
And I practiced yesterday.
For love's the only medicine
My system really needs,
It makes me want to somersault
Or pull out stubborn weeds.
I never get depressed and blue,
Your love keeps me serene;
It happened only yesterday,
If you know what I mean.
