Winter Solstice ©

Stella
Fife, Scotland
2007

Winter solstice begs us remember
Spring is waiting in the wings
Even when the trees are naked
Buds are promised and will bring
Verdant canopies shade from the sun

Holding fast when all is darkness
The longest hour steps slowly past
Robbed of sunlight landscape bare
It's then I most need love and care
It's then I raise my heart in prayer
