The Sky ©

by Deborah Lloyd
Scotland
1997

A pretty blue ceiling,
decorated with wisps of white and grey.

A haven for the many winged creatures,
gliding through it's vastness.

A bright light shining down on Earth,
illuminating our days.

Like a blanket,
protecting the baby beneath in its slumber.

Clouds of cotton-wool,
squeezed by the hand of some unearthly being,
release their watery cargo.

Drops of liquid life cling to green leaves,
collecting into sparkling little gemstones.

The many insects of Earth float and billow,
inside a balloon of gentle breezes and uplifting gusts.
