The Ocean ©

Margaret Leith Minter
Victoria B.C., Canada
2004

Waves tumbling onto the shore,
caressing the sand;
whispering endlessly,
bringing gifts;
rocks,
shells,
seaweed,
driftwood.
Treasures from the depths,
to lay at my feet.
offerings from Poseidon,
luring me back to where I started,
where there is no time, no pain, no sadness;
only the deep, cold eternity of the ocean.
