The Depths ©

by Deborah Lloyd
Scotland
2000

In the depths of winter
When the snow begins to bite,
And the wind begins to chill,
There is cool serenity.
A crisp freshness unknown to other seasons.
Sky of icy blue and white,
Grass crunching underfoot.
Icicles forming all around.
Windows with curtains of fine frost.
In the depths of winter.
