Scotland My Heart ©

My land of drifting shadows
And leaves that are so green,
The spirit of my homeland
Haunts my every dream.
Wildflowers in the meadows
Waving in the breeze,
A rainbow across the mountains
This place I feel at ease.
Sometimes I sit and ponder
As I wonder through the years,
Mother-earth that brought me life
I remember you with tears.
Hawthorn bushes by the roadside
Heather on the hills,
I love the rocky coastline
Where I could roam at will.
Your beauty lives within my soul
We should never be apart,
At peace one day in your care
Scotland you are my heart.
