Beautiful Tree ©

Ray E. MacRae
New South Wales, Australia
1975

You and me we planted a small tree
It was our love.

It wasnít very strong but we helped it along
because we loved the tree.

It grew through the seasons and lived for many reasons
and became very beautiful.

But one cold dark night under the winter winds might
it was snapped off at the ground.

We both saw it was broken with hardly another word spoken
we walked away.

I was back there today the snow has melted away
with the warmth of the spring.

I donít know what gives but the tree still lives
it will grow stronger this time.

We loved the tree you and me
now it needs us.
