Autumn ©

Josephine Duthie
Aberdeen, Scotland
2000

The tree trembles
farewell to Summer
as cool Autumn showers
mist the dying season.
Her fraying cloak,
bathed in gold sunlight
bares her identity.

The chilled wind whispers,
and the tree sleeps,
and the last leaf falls.
